Printer Maintenance

It is important to keep your printer well maintained and to run it on a regular basis.

However from time to time you get lines missing in your prints - this will indicate the need to run a 'head cleaning cycle' to clear the blockages in the print head.  There should be software within your print driver to perform this. Instructions as below:

Windows XP / Vista

  1. Click on START in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop screen.
  2. Go to CONTROL  PANEL and select PRINTERS.
  3. Click on your printers ICON , whilst highlighted RIGHT HAND CLICK and select PROPERTIES.
  4. Go to UTILITY or MAINTENANCE and select HEAD CLEANING.

Windows 95 / 98 / 2000 / Millienium

Only perform a 'head cleaning cycle' when print quality deteriates as it does use quite a quantity of your ink.

  1. Click on START in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop screen.
  2. Go to SETTINGS and select PRINTERS.
  3. Click on your printers ICON , whilst highlighted RIGHT HAND CLICK and select PROPERTIES.
  4. Go to UTILITY or MAINTENANCE and select HEAD CLEANING.

If problem persists then we recommend replacing your cartridges.  If the cartridges have been purchase from us then they are guaranteed to not to cause you major problems, please contact us if they do on 0871 288 1557.

Installing your cartridges

  1. Remove tape/clip from bottom of cartridge before installing in printer. Be careful not to remove the electronic print-head.  When we supply HP and Lexmark recycled cartridges we supply them in a protective clip, but do not use tape on the head, and so once the clip has been removed it is ready for intallation.
  2. Once cartridge has been installed, perform at least one cleaning cycle.
  3. If print quality deteriorates with normal use, repeat cleaning cycle.
  4. Try and avoid removing a cartridge once installed, unless replacing with a new one.
