Different types of ink cartridges
There are three main types of inkjet cartridges.
1. Originals: Originals cartridges are cartridges that have been manufactured by the
Original Equipment manufacturer also known as OEM’s. Many manufacturers sell their
printers at a very low cost, then charge the same or even more for the replacement
ink cartridges.
2. Compatibles: Compatible cartridges have been manufactured by a third party company
who have re-design the cartridge so it’s doesn’t infringe copyright, but will work
perfectly in the printer. As they are BRAND NEW ink cartridges they will perform
extremely well.
3. Recycled: Recycled cartridges are cartridges that have been used before. Collected,
cleaned and refilled. Often referred as remanufactured cartridges. These can save you
Money, but as they are second hand they may causes the user problems.
We believe great care should be taken while choosing your printer. Exploring the features
of a printer is important, but it can equally be as important to find out how much the ink
will cost.
If you use your printer frequently, we’d recommend you to choose a printer that you can
buy compatible cartridges for. Epson or Brother Printers would be ideal. They will save
you pounds in the long run.
If you are a low print user, we’d recommend buying a printer that uses an original
cartridge with a printhead attached to it. Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Dell or a cheaper
Canon printer would be ideal. The reasoning behind this is, the printhead may dry up due
to lack of use. This can be easily fixed just by replacing the cartridge.
Which Printer should I buy?
This is the main question we get asked. First of all you must decide whether
you'll be a frequent user or an occasional user.
If you are going to use the printer frequently, you need to check the price
of the ink cartridges, and preferably buy a printer that can use good quality
compatible ink cartridges. Brother Epson Kodak and the more expensive
Canon Printers all have good quality compatible ink cartridges available for
them and will keep your printing cost to a minimum.
If you are only going to use the printer occasionally, then choose a
printer with the printhead attached to the cartridge. This is in case the
printhead dries due to lack of use. The printer will be easily fix just by
replacing the ink cartridge. HP (Hewlett Packard) Dell and the Cheaper
Canon Printers all use cartridges with printheads attached. These cartridges
are more expensive, but you'll save on your maintenance costs. We
recommend only using the originals as they will give you hassle free printing.
We have a large selection of printers. The MOST important feature you must
consider before buying a printer, is how much the replacement ink
cartridges will be? We display all our printers, with their cartridge numbers,
so you can check the costs of the ink cartridges before purchasing.
